Taxpayers in North Carolina who received an extension for their state individual income tax returns, originally due on April 15, 2025, are reminded that the deadline to file is Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Returns sent by mail to the North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) must be postmarked no later than October 15. Those choosing to e-file must submit their returns electronically by midnight on the same date.

According to the NCDOR, “The NCDOR funds public services benefiting the people of North Carolina. The NCDOR administers the tax laws and collects the taxes due in an impartial, consistent, secure, and efficient manner.”
