Attorney General Jeff Jackson has taken action against Stone Brook Partners following an investigation into the company’s real estate practices. The company allegedly offered consumers cash in exchange for rights to make the first offer on their homes if they decided to sell, known as Right of First Offer (ROFO) agreements. These agreements reportedly included hidden 30-year commitments and other exploitative terms.

The North Carolina Department of Justice (NCDOJ) had previously sued MV Realty, also run by Antony Mitchell, in 2023. The lawsuit claimed that MV Realty targeted vulnerable homeowners with upfront cash payments in exchange for exclusive long-term service commitments. These agreements allegedly placed encumbrances on homeowners’ properties to enforce compliance.
