The National Hockey League (NHL) has released the current order of selection for the 2025 Draft, with the Carolina Hurricanes set to make six picks. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes’ selections are as follows: Round 1, #29 Overall; Round 3, #87 Overall (from Tampa Bay); Round 4, #125 Overall; Round 6, #183 Overall (from Tampa Bay); Round 6, #189 Overall; and Round 7, #221 Overall.
Round 1 of the draft will occur on Friday, June 27, starting at 7 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States. Rounds 2 through 7 will take place on Saturday, June 28, beginning at noon ET and will be shown on NHL Network and ESPN+ in the U.S.
Reflecting on past drafts, Carolina’s most recent first-round pick was Bradly Nadeau from Penticton of the BCHL. Less than a year after being selected, Nadeau debuted in the NHL and completed his first full professional season in 2024-25.
In previous trades affecting their draft picks this year, Carolina sent their second-round pick to the Colorado Avalanche earlier this year. They also traded their original third-round pick to the Washington Capitals for Evgeny Kuznetsov but later obtained another third-round pick from Tampa Bay by trading Jake Guentzel’s rights.
Additionally, Eric Tulsky and Darren Yorke led efforts to secure an extra sixth-round pick this spring. The team’s fifth-round pick was traded along with Massimo Rizzo for David Kase two summers ago.
The draft announcement was made at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
