Mike Schietzelt, a candidate for the North Carolina House, shared several personal and political insights on social media over the course of three days in June 2025. His posts provide a glimpse into both his family life and his views on local politics.
On June 18, Schietzelt expressed pride in his child Arthur’s enthusiasm following a visit to the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA). He tweeted, “Arthur’s a great kid, and he came home raving about his day at the NCGA.”
The following day, June 19, Schietzelt commented on an issue within state politics by stating that shrimp trawling is considered a contentious topic. He succinctly noted this in his tweet: “Shrimp trawling–the third rail of NC politics.”
On June 20, Schietzelt shared a humorous anecdote involving his young child. While taking a brief break from work to get coffee, he returned to find his one-year-old attempting to assist with signing voter letters. He described this incident in a tweet: “I stepped away from my desk to pour a cup of coffee this morning. When I got back, I found my 1-year old at the desk trying to help me sign new voter letters.”
Schietzelt is actively involved in North Carolina’s political scene as he campaigns for office while balancing family responsibilities.
