Mike Schietzelt, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent North Carolina’s 35th House district, recently used his social media platform to discuss the passage of a bill addressing healthcare needs in the state and his legislative record.
In a post dated August 16, 2025, Schietzelt emphasized the unanimous support for a recent bill: “Not one person voted against this bill. Not one. It’s good policy that helps us address a glaring need in North Carolina. Tim and Grant are insanely bright. They’re thoughtful. They’re open to criticism and debate. And they’re men of great integrity. I love working with them.”
Following up on the same day, Schietzelt clarified aspects of the legislation: “Not ‘in lieu of.’ More like ‘as well as.’ Part one of the same bill is the Interstate Medical Compact, which is intended to incentivize other American doctors to relocate to North Carolina. Not either/or. It’s a both/and approach to solving a significant problem.”
Later that evening, he addressed constituents directly about his performance as their representative: “I’m more than comfortable defending my record to my district.”
Schietzelt succeeded Terence Everitt in the North Carolina State House after winning election in 2025 as a member of the Republican Party.
