Mike Schietzelt, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent North Carolina’s 35th House district, recently addressed both personal and policy matters on his social media account. His posts covered family moments as well as ongoing issues facing the state’s healthcare system.
On August 15, 2025, Schietzelt shared a personal reflection related to his wedding anniversary: “I was looking through pictures to post regarding my wedding anniversary (which was 8/12).
But that quickly escalated into exchanging old, bad photos with my wife. Silly moments making awful faces with crazy hair. Wild parenting moments where the kids are hanging off of you, or https://t.co/s6wKPdb2XY“.
The following day, Schietzelt shifted focus to public policy by highlighting concerns about physician shortages in North Carolina: “Despite having multiple high quality medical schools in our state, we have a stubborn shortage of physicians.
According to the NC Office of Rural Health, 84 of our 100 counties have county-wide shortages of primary care doctors.” On the same date, he called for further discussion regarding legislative information: “We need to talk about this because there’s some incomplete information and outright misinformation out there about this bill. https://t.co/Tejxxjjng9”.
Schietzelt assumed office after winning election to the North Carolina State House in 2025, succeeding Terence Everitt as representative for District 35.
