Mike Schietzelt, a Republican recently elected to represent North Carolina’s 35th House district in the State House, shared updates and commentary on local healthcare issues and community events via his Twitter account in mid-August 2025.
On August 16, 2025, Schietzelt addressed criticisms regarding proposed legislation affecting medical professionals in North Carolina. He wrote, “You keep claiming this bill is going to hurt NC doctors. But also that NC doctors are behind this. The argument falls flat on its face. Call the NC Medical Society and ask their opinion on the matter.”
Later that evening, Schietzelt highlighted healthcare access challenges within his own district. On August 16, he posted, “I have zero hospitals in my district of ~90,000 people, which is absurd and something else I’m working to remedy.”
Shifting focus to local community activities, Schietzelt shared a personal note about attending a family-friendly fundraiser. On August 17, he tweeted, “Trucks, a race car, and a helicopter! My boys really enjoyed the Touch-a-Truck fundraiser today at The Factory!”
Schietzelt assumed office in 2025 after winning election to replace former state representative Terence Everitt as the representative for North Carolina’s 35th House district.
