Mike Schietzelt, a Republican elected to the North Carolina State House in 2025 representing the state’s 35th House district, posted several updates on his Twitter account in early January 2026.

On January 6, Schietzelt addressed an airline directly regarding a travel issue affecting a family. He wrote, “Hey @FlyFrontier — trying to reach a human being regarding a family of six stranded in Puerto Rico and facing serious hardship. Any assistance in connecting us would be appreciated.”

Two days later, on January 8, Schietzelt commented on legal shortcomings concerning mental health and criminal justice. He stated, “This case exposed a serious gap in the law between incompetence to stand trial and involuntary commitment. We owe it to the public to address that gap responsibly.”

Later that same day, he responded to another post with a brief correction: “I think you meant ‘This beautiful princess…'”

Schietzelt assumed office after winning election in 2025 for North Carolina’s 35th House district, succeeding Terence Everitt.
