Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland used her social media platform to highlight key legislative milestones and provide practical reminders to her constituents in a series of posts from April 10 to April 12, 2026.
On April 10, Strickland reflected on the longstanding relationship between the United States and Taiwan. She wrote, “For nearly five decades, the #TaiwanRelationsAct has served as the cornerstone of the strong relationship between the US and Taiwan. A vital partner in the Indo-Pacific, Taiwan remains a key economic and cultural partner.”
The following day, she commemorated an important civil rights milestone: “On this day in 1968, the #FairHousingAct prohibited discrimination during the sale, rental, and financing of housing. We must continue the fight to modernize our housing landscape, and help every American have equal access to opportunity.” The Fair Housing Act was a landmark law passed in response to widespread discrimination in housing markets across the United States.
On April 12, Strickland addressed residents of South Sound with a timely reminder about tax deadlines: “Heads up #SouthSound – file your taxes by April 15th. Visit https://t.co/5FiruRRZY9 to learn more. https://t.co/InYpDljbA3” The Internal Revenue Service sets mid-April as its annual deadline for individual income tax filings.
Strickland is recognized for her legislative service since being elected to public office in 2017. She was chosen as a Republican representative for North Carolina’s 28th House district after succeeding James Langdon, Jr.
