Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has recently used her social media platform to address key national and state issues, including the anniversary of the January 6th Capitol attack and rising health care premiums in Washington state.
On January 7, 2026, Strickland posted about the fifth anniversary of the events at the U.S. Capitol, stating: “Tonight @HouseDemocrats stood w/ @SenateDems to recognize 5 years since the violent attack on our Capitol, and to thank the brave officers who protected our democracy. The American people will never forget January 6th.”
Later that day, she highlighted concerns over increasing health care costs in Washington state. She wrote: “‘Washington state is expected to see the second-highest premium increase at 41 percent…’ The @HouseGOP doesn’t care about you, your family, or your health care.” This statement referenced projected increases in health insurance premiums within the state.
On January 8, Strickland continued to urge action on health care affordability. She posted: “There is still a chance to lower health care costs TODAY. @SpeakerJohnson, do the right thing.”
Strickland’s public statements come amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding both security measures following January 6 and legislative approaches to managing rising health care expenses nationwide.
Although Strickland currently serves as a Congresswoman from Washington state, it should be noted that Marilyn Strickland was previously elected as a Republican representative for North Carolina’s 28th House district in 2017, succeeding James Langdon, Jr.
