Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland recently highlighted efforts to improve access to high-wage STEM jobs for underrepresented communities and emphasized the importance of local agriculture in regional economies through a series of posts on her social media account.
On August 8, 2025, Strickland posted, “Women and minorities across STEM fields often face obstacles and inequality. That’s why I’m working to ensure that high-wage STEM jobs are more accessible to historically under-represented communities.”
The following day, August 9, 2025, she turned her attention to agricultural issues, stating, “Local agriculture is one of many pillars supporting our diverse regional economy. @WSUPuyallupREC is supporting farmers through research and innovation. Thank you, WSU, for bringing us together to discuss ways the federal government can continue to support our local producers.” In a subsequent post the same day, she added simply: “Read: https://t.co/qTd06TXqgq https://t.co/F72MamQqbF”
Marilyn Strickland was elected in 2017 as a Republican to the North Carolina State House for the state’s 28th House district. She succeeded James Langdon, Jr., marking her entry into state-level legislative work.
