Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has recently used her social media platform to comment on international relations, local sports, and national policy. In a series of posts made between March 24 and March 26, 2026, Strickland addressed topics ranging from Taiwan’s democratic development to the return of Seattle’s basketball team and criticism of federal legislation.

On March 24, Strickland highlighted Taiwan’s political progress: “This year marks three decades since Taiwan’s transition to a full democracy, demonstrating the nation’s strength and resilience in the Indo-Pacific. Since 1996, Taiwan has been a vital partner for the US in our joint efforts to protect and preserve democracies across the globe.”

The following day, she turned her attention to local sports by advocating for the return of Seattle’s NBA franchise: “Bring back our #Sonics! We have the fans. We have the arena. We’re ready.” (March 25).

On March 26, Strickland criticized recent federal legislation supported by President Biden: “.@POTUS’ Big Ugly Bill is an attack on the middle class.”

Marilyn Strickland serves as a U.S. Congresswoman and has been active in public service since being elected to represent North Carolina’s 28th House district in 2017, succeeding James Langdon, Jr.
