Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland recently shared her thoughts and activities through a series of tweets. Her posts covered topics ranging from the celebration of Juneteenth to concerns about healthcare policies affecting Washington residents.
On June 19, 2025, Congresswoman Strickland commemorated Juneteenth with a message emphasizing the importance of freedom and equality for all Americans. She expressed her sentiments by stating, “As we commemorate #Juneteenth, one message holds true. Freedom and equality are the right of every American. Happy Juneteenth!”
The following day, on June 20, 2025, she reflected on her participation in a local event at Stewart Heights Park in Tacoma to mark the fifth anniversary of Juneteenth’s recognition as a federal holiday. In her tweet, she noted the significance of ongoing support for the Black community: “It was good to spend #Juneteenth at Stewart Heights Park with the @CityofTacoma. On the 5th anniversary of Juneteenth’s recognition as a federal holiday, we must continue to support and uplift the Black community.”
Later that same day, Strickland addressed concerns over potential healthcare coverage losses due to proposed budget changes by House Republicans. She highlighted that more than 200,000 Washingtonians could be affected and expressed gratitude towards those advocating for health access: “Thanks to @HouseGOP and their sham budget bill, over 200k Washingtonians are at risk of losing #AppleHealth. Thank you to the hospitals, health centers, and advocates for joining me at the table to support a healthy Washington.”
In addition to being an advocate for healthcare access in Washington State, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland is also known for her involvement in promoting racial equality and supporting community events.
