Lenovo Center, together with the Centennial Authority, the Carolina Hurricanes, and NC State University, announced on Apr. 2 new plans for the ongoing enhancement project at the arena in Raleigh.
The updates are significant as Lenovo Center is a major venue that hosts hundreds of events each year, including NC State Men’s Basketball games and Carolina Hurricanes hockey matches. These improvements aim to enhance visitor experience and support Raleigh’s position as a destination for top entertainment.
Philip Isley, Chairman of the Centennial Authority, said, “Lenovo Center hosts hundreds of events every year, from NC State Men’s Basketball to Hurricanes hockey to world-class touring acts and family shows. These enhancements will help us continue to bring top entertainment and events to Raleigh.” Brian Fork, CEO of Hurricanes Holdings, added: “When this project is complete, Lenovo Center is going to look and feel like an entirely different building, inside and out. Every person who comes to this building is going to have a first-class experience to match the top venues in the NHL.” Boo Corrigan, McMurray Family Director of Athletics at NC State University said: “The experience of attending an NC State basketball game or any event in the Lenovo Center is going to be even better following these updates. From improved operations to enhancements for our general fans and premium spaces, every aspect of the building has been thoughtfully designed to elevate the experience for Wolfpack fans.”
This summer’s planned upgrades include refreshed seating throughout the lower bowl with re-aisling in the 100-level section. The third-level concourse will be updated with new concession areas and bathrooms as well as expanded family services. Major additions include a refreshed exterior with expanded facades and grand lobby areas on both east and west sides; a flagship beer hall open year-round; an enlarged team store on the southwest side; overhauled Arena Club spaces; escalators added for better circulation; renovated bathrooms; upgraded VIP entrances; plus improvements across club levels including suites and lounges.
According to the official website, Lenovo Center covers more than 700,000 square feet with multiple seating levels offering amenities such as suites and concession stands. The arena accommodates up to 20,000 people per event while hosting over 150 events annually according to its official site. The economic impact from Carolina Hurricanes’ activities at Lenovo Center exceeds $200 million each year through various events and community engagement initiatives as reported by their website.
The Carolina Hurricanes have recognized notable players such as Eric Staal by inducting them into their Hall of Fame according to their official website. They also achieved a milestone by winning the Stanley Cup in 2006 as stated on their official site.
