Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov is set to make his first start of the series for the Carolina Hurricanes as they face the New Jersey Devils in Game 5 on Tuesday. This decision follows an undisclosed injury sustained by Frederik Andersen in New Jersey. Hurricanes’ coach Rod Brind’Amour disclosed that Andersen is unavailable for the game and is considered day-to-day.

With Andersen sidelined, Spencer Martin will serve as backup goaltender. Ruslan Khazheyev will continue as the third goalie but cannot be dressed for the game unless required due to another injury, as league rules stipulate.

The lineup will carry only one adjustment among the skaters from Sunday’s Game 4 victory. Seth Jarvis and William Carrier swapped positions during the morning skate for an alternate five-on-five formation. Jack Roslovic and Tyson Jost, who were healthy scratches on Sunday, are expected to remain out for this game.

The projected forwards for this matchup include the lines of Svechnikov, Aho, Blake; Hall, Kotkaniemi, Carrier; Martinook, Staal, Jarvis; and Robinson, Jankowski, Stankoven. The defense pairings are Slavin-Burns, Orlov-Chatfield, and Gostisbehere-Walker. For the power play, PP1 will comprise Aho, Blake, Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere; PP2 will feature Hall, Kotkaniemi, and Stankoven with Burns and Walker.

The lineup adjustment occurs ahead of the 7:30 p.m. match, accompanied by odds marking the Hurricanes at -275 from Fanatics Sportsbook.

The team continues without Jesper Fast, who is out for the season due to a neck injury. The scratches for tonight’s game include Tyson Jost, Alexander Nikishin, Jack Roslovic, and Riley Stillman.
