The Carolina Hurricanes have identified the Washington Capitals as their opponent for the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Following the Hurricanes’ series win over the New Jersey Devils, the Capitals secured their position by defeating the Montreal Canadiens in a five-game series.

The Capitals, having finished higher in the standings, will have the advantage of playing at home to start the series. This matchup marks only the second playoff meeting between Carolina and Washington, the last being in 2019 when the Hurricanes emerged victorious in a seven-game series.

During the regular season, the Hurricanes and Capitals faced off four times with the Hurricanes winning two games, one in a shootout which they lost, and the Capitals winning one. In these games, the Hurricanes outscored the Capitals 14 to 10.

The schedule for the playoffs will be released by the NHL at a later date. Tickets for the games will first be made available to season ticket holders, with a presale on May 1 at noon. The general public will be able to purchase tickets starting May 2 at noon. To receive updates on playoff tickets, fans can text “TICKETS25” to (919) 705-0896.
