The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled goaltender Spencer Martin from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the Hurricanes, made the announcement.
Spencer Martin, 29, played nine games with the Hurricanes during the regular season, achieving a 3-4-1 record. His goals-against average stood at 3.89, with a save percentage of .846. While with the Wolves, he posted a 20-8-2 record in the 2024-25 season, with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Martin originated from Oakville, Ontario, and was drafted by Colorado in the 2013 NHL Draft, 63rd overall in the third round. Over his career, he has appeared in 66 NHL games, playing for teams including Colorado, Vancouver, Columbus, and Carolina.
In the 2023-24 season, Martin played 19 NHL games with both Columbus and Carolina, boasting a 3.30 goals-against average and a save percentage of .889. His overall NHL statistics reflect a 24-30-8 record, with a 3.56 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage.
Spencer Martin marked a milestone by recording his first career shutout, which was also the first shutout of the season for the Hurricanes, as noted by Sportsnet.
