The Carolina Hurricanes are preparing for their upcoming series against the Washington Capitals, scheduled to begin at Capital One Arena. However, the NHL has not yet released the start time or further details for the series opener. The Hurricanes continue their training sessions at Lenovo Center, using Saturday for practice and setting Sunday aside for rest, before traveling to D.C. on Monday.
Sebastian Aho rejoined the team on Saturday after being absent on Friday for personal reasons. Eric Robinson, who was not feeling well, missed practice for the second consecutive day. The team’s goaltending lineup remains stable, with Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov continuing their regular preparations.
The Hurricanes are focused on facing the Capitals, a strong team with a balance of seasoned veterans and new players. Rod Brind’Amour, head coach of the Hurricanes, commented on the Capitals’ discipline and resistance to taking unnecessary penalties, anticipating a physical series. Shayne Gostisbehere praised Washington’s mix of leadership and consistent performance throughout the year, emphasizing the need for the Hurricanes to remain focused on their game.
Andrei Svechnikov and Seth Jarvis addressed the physicality expected in the series, stressing the importance of preparedness and resilience without engaging in unnecessary conflicts.
The Hurricanes are maintaining readiness during their gap between games, as noted by Shayne Gostisbehere: “This part of the year, rest is a weapon.” Rod Brind’Amour expressed confidence in his team as they approach Round 2, emphasizing a fresh start and the strength of their goaltending options.
