Although the Carolina Hurricanes have been focused on strengthening their team for the upcoming 2025-26 season, attention was also directed towards the organization’s future prospects during a recent Development Camp held in Morrisville. Over three days, several young players showcased their skills, offering a glimpse into potential future contributions to the team.

Fyodor Avramov, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 190 lbs., impressed with his smooth game and release. He was selected in the 2024 draft and recently made his KHL debut. Blake Biondi, originally drafted by Montreal but unsigned, started his professional career with Chicago (AHL) this spring. At 23 years old, he is now under contract with the Wolves for the 2025-26 season.

Charlie Cerrato from Penn State showed promise after scoring 42 points as a freshman last season. Fikip Ekberg, despite his smaller stature, displayed clear talent and expressed admiration for Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov. Michael Emerson returned for his third development camp following his second NCAA stint at Merrimack.

Nils Juntorp joined Raleigh through a trade involving Taylor Hall and Mikko Rantanen. Josh Nadeau was invited back for a third consecutive camp after achieving 74 points in as many NCAA games. Viggo Nordlund mentioned Johnny Gaudreau as an inspiration due to similar size challenges.

Jayden Perron will transition from the University of North Dakota to Michigan this fall. Justin Poirier aims to develop further at the University of Maine alongside Josh Nadeau. Ivan Ryabkin’s drafting position generated buzz; he was picked at the end of the second round despite expectations of going higher.

Alexander Rykov had a solid season despite injuries and played in 12 KHL playoff games as a teenager. Oskar Vuollett spent most of last season playing at Sweden’s highest level and aims to improve production in 2025-26.

Stanislav Yarovoi may sign an entry-level contract with Carolina after accumulating significant KHL experience. Dominik Badinka was noted for both his talent and personal qualities after moving from Sweden’s top league to Chicago.

Roman Bausov stood out physically among attendees, while Simon Forsmark continued developing into a professional player with experience in Sweden’s top league. Noel Fransen demonstrated maturity beyond his years since being drafted last year.

Kurban Limatov’s ice time was limited due to injury, but Alexander Siryatsky made an impression with his size and potential at just 18 years old.

Semyon Frolov was highly anticipated by Carolina’s goaltending staff before being selected at #41 in the draft. His composure and footwork received praise from Goaltending Development Coach Jason Muzzatti.

Ben Hrebik participated as an invitee and is expected to return to Barrie (OHL) this fall after posting impressive statistics last season. Jaeden Nelson also attended as an invitee, demonstrating hard work despite playing on a struggling team previously.
