The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction announced on March 26 that it will host a hiring event for correctional officer positions at Harnett Correctional Institution. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Harnett County Public Library in Lillington.

The department said both full and part-time positions are available, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus offered to eligible candidates hired into full-time roles. The hiring event aims to attract new applicants interested in careers in public safety.

According to the announcement, candidates can apply online or in person during the event and should come prepared for an interview. Minimum requirements include being at least 18 years old, holding U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency for three or more years, having a high school diploma or equivalent, and possessing a valid driver’s license.

Those seeking employment as correctional officers are encouraged by the department to attend and take the first steps toward joining its workforce.

The department noted that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to recruit qualified staff and fill open positions within state correctional facilities.
