Governor Stein offers rewards for information on Guilford County murder cases

Today, Governor Josh Stein announced the state’s initiative to offer rewards for information related to two separate murder investigations in Guilford County. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of John Boone. Additionally, a similar reward is being offered for the case of Jakaylen Chambers.

John Boone, aged 49, was found dead from a gunshot wound on January 26, 2022, near the intersection of Lakewood Drive and Futrelle Drive in High Point. Notably, Mr. Boone was deaf and non-verbal. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the High Point Police Department at (336) 887-7970, Crime Stoppers of High Point at (336) 889-4000, or the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500.

Jakaylen Chambers, just 14 years old, was discovered with a gunshot wound on February 1, 2022, after officers responded to a shooting on McPherson Street in Greensboro. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
