Governor Josh Stein has announced a new appointment to the Superior Court for Judicial District 1. The Honorable Eula Reid will serve Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans Counties. This appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of the Honorable Jerry Tillett.

Judge Reid is currently an Emergency Superior Court Judge. She served as a Superior Court Judge from 2021 to 2022 and spent 14 years as a District Court Judge before that. Her academic credentials include a B.A. from Elizabeth City State University and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Governor Stein commented on the appointment: “Judge Reid has a strong career in public service within the First Judicial District,” adding that her experience and community commitment make her suitable for this role. “I look forward to her service on the bench.”
