Governor Josh Stein has appointed Cheryl Andrews McDonald to the District Court for Judicial District 31, which covers Forsyth County. This appointment comes after the retirement of Judge George Cleland IV.

McDonald is currently a solo practitioner in Winston-Salem, where she handles both civil and criminal litigation. She began her legal career at Holton Law Firm, PLLC in 2010 and later worked for four years at the Forsyth County Public Defender’s Office. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.

“With nearly twenty years of legal experience and a commitment to justice, Cheryl is the right person to serve District 31,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Her values and experience, coupled with her strong record of service, make her well-equipped for the role, and I look forward to her service on the bench.”
