Today, Governor Josh Stein recognized ten individuals for their outstanding service to North Carolina by inducting them into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. This prestigious award is given to citizens who have made significant contributions to the state.
Governor Stein expressed his admiration for the honorees, stating, “These North Carolinians represent the best our state has to offer through their lifetimes of service. I am proud to honor them for their contributions and willingness to help their neighbors.”
The individuals honored include Alma Adams, a United States Representative; Lynn Good, former CEO of Duke Energy; Spencer Merriweather, Mecklenburg County District Attorney; Jeff Tarte, former North Carolina State Senator and Mayor of Cornelius; Bishop Dwayne Walker, former Pastor of Little Rock African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church; Carl Bailey, a retired firefighter from the Charlotte Fire Department; Jonathan Moore, William Costello, Captain Nathan Jones—firefighters from the Charlotte Fire Department—and Justin Barringer, an engineer at the same department.
