Governor announces reward in Asha Degree’s disappearance case

Governor Josh Stein has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the disappearance of Asha Degree. This announcement comes as part of efforts to solve a case that has remained unsolved for over two decades.

Asha Degree, who was nine years old at the time, disappeared from her home in Shelby, North Carolina on February 14, 2000. She left her home in the middle of the night. Her family last saw her asleep in her bedroom around 2:30 a.m., but she was later seen by drivers walking along NC Highway 18 about an hour and a half later. By 6:30 a.m., her parents reported her missing.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 484-4788 or the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500.
