North Carolina’s Executive Mansion will hold its annual Holiday Open House from December 11 to 13, 2025. The event allows the public to visit the historic residence at 200 N. Blount St., Raleigh, which has served as the home for North Carolina governors since 1891.

The open house will be held on Thursday, December 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and no reservations are required. Visitors should enter through the main gates on Blount Street.

During the open house, there will not be guided tours; however, docents will be available in each room to answer questions and provide information about the mansion and its holiday decorations. Public access is limited to the house itself, as the gardens will remain closed for the season.

Nonperishable food donations will be accepted during the event for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Monetary donations are not accepted.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once described the Victorian-style mansion as having “the most beautiful governor’s residence interior in America.” Built using local materials, it has housed thirty governors’ families. Governor Josh Stein is currently residing in the mansion as North Carolina’s 31st governor.

The event is organized by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR), which oversees more than one hundred sites across North Carolina including historic sites, museums, parks, trails, and cultural programs. More details about DNCR can be found at www.dncr.nc.gov.
