National Democrats have decided not to pursue any of North Carolina’s 10 Congressional seats currently held by Republicans in the 2026 election cycle. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced on April 9th that none of their “In Play” districts are located in North Carolina, effectively conceding that they see no opportunity to change the current balance.

According to the DCCC, the state’s support for President Trump’s “America First” policies has led them to this decision. The Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC), however, has taken an aggressive stance, focusing on NC-01, represented by Congressman Don Davis.

NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer explained the Republican strategy: “When Republicans flip NC-01 next November, Republicans will hold an 11-3 advantage in North Carolina and add another vote for President Trump’s America First agenda in Congress.”
