A prominent Democratic organization, the Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI), has issued a strong criticism of the North Carolina Democratic Party. The group, based in Washington, D.C., is aligned with the Democratic Party and has expressed concerns over what it perceives as antisemitism within the party.
Brian Romick, President and CEO of DMFI, released a statement condemning certain actions and statements by party members. In New York City, mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was criticized for not denouncing the phrase “Globalize the Intifada,” which Romick described as “a call for bloodshed.” He urged Mamdani to engage with Jewish New Yorkers to address their concerns.
Romick also highlighted issues within North Carolina’s Democratic Party. He criticized a resolution calling for an arms embargo on Israel and accusing the country of genocide and apartheid. According to Romick, this resolution distracts from efforts to elect Democrats in North Carolina and is both divisive and factually incorrect. He stated that it ignored Hamas’s role in violence against Israel and bypassed proper procedures within the party.
The statement emphasized that these criticisms come from a group aligned with the Democratic Party itself. As of now, there have been no comments from key figures such as Governor Josh Stein or former Governor Roy Cooper regarding these allegations.
