Congresswoman Deborah Ross, representing North Carolina’s 2nd district, expressed her concerns on various policy issues concerning the U.S. government and its impact on American citizens in a series of tweets posted on April 2, 2025. The tweets focus on the economic decisions made by Former President Donald Trump’s administration, particularly addressing costs, tariffs, and employment in healthcare.

On April 2, 2025, Congresswoman Ross criticized former President Donald Trump regarding the increasing costs affecting American citizens, particularly in sectors such as cars, groceries, and energy. She stated, “Trump does not care about high prices affecting the American people. When costs go up and Americans pay more for cars, groceries, and energy, it will be entirely on him.”

Continuing her discourse on policy decisions, later on the same day, Ross highlighted the impact of mass firings at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She expressed her concerns about health and safety, especially affecting sick children and new mothers relying on fundamental health services. She tweeted, “Mass firings at HHS will endanger the health and safety of millions of Americans — from sick children relying on life-saving NIH research to new moms who depend on Medicaid. My Democratic colleagues and I will fight these dangerous actions in every way we can.”

In the final tweet, Ross commented on the economic implications of new tariffs introduced by Trump’s administration. The congresswoman argued that such measures would not enhance freedom for Americans but would instead increase financial burdens and risk triggering an economic recession. She affirmed a bipartisan willingness to oppose these tariffs, stating, “Trump’s latest tariffs will not ‘liberate’ the American people — they’ll drive up costs & threaten a recession. While he escalates this trade war, Democrats will work with anyone willing to combat these disastrous tariffs.”
