Furniture manufacturer Coley Home plans to expand its operations in Claremont, North Carolina, with a $9 million investment. The expansion will create 45 new jobs in Catawba County and add a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, along with a showroom and office space.

Governor Josh Stein commented on the announcement: “North Carolina is the furniture capital of the world, and Coley Home’s expansion reinforces that truth. I’m delighted to see this homegrown company grow and thrive in Catawba County, validating the quality of our workforce and the excellence of our manufacturing.”

Coley Home was founded in 2019 and manufactures custom home furnishings. The company manages all stages from design to distribution and offers customers options including 150 fabrics, various furniture styles, and trim choices.

“We could not be more excited to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility adjacent to our current facility,” said Coley Hull, Founder of Coley Home. “This expansion will support our continued growth and our mission to share an exceptional North Carolina craft with the world.”

N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley noted: “North Carolina is home to the nation’s largest furniture workforce. Companies like Coley Home, along with more than 850 furniture manufacturers statewide, benefit from our craftsmanship, robust supply chain, and nationally recognized workforce training programs.”

The average annual salary for the new positions is expected to be $61,911, which is higher than Catawba County’s average wage of $54,280. The additional jobs could bring nearly $2.8 million in annual payroll impact for the region.

To support this project, Coley LLC has been awarded a performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. This fund assists local governments in attracting economic investment by providing financial assistance tied to job creation and capital investment targets. Grants require matching funds from local governments.

N.C. Senator Mark Hollo stated: “We welcome these additional jobs and investments to Catawba County. Coley Home has quickly grown its business to go directly to its customers’ homes, and we’re excited to support the company in this next phase of growth.”

Partners involved in supporting this project include state agencies such as the North Carolina Department of Commerce and Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina; educational institutions like Catawba Valley Community College; local government entities; as well as other regional organizations.
