Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that the team has signed forward Noel Gunler and defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to one-year, two-way contracts. Gunler’s contract offers him $813,750 at the NHL level or $80,000 in the AHL. Bayreuther will earn $775,000 in the NHL or $140,000 in the AHL, with a minimum guarantee of $150,000.
Noel Gunler, aged 23, recorded 26 points during his time with the Chicago Wolves in the 2024-25 season. He was second on his team for power-play goals and tied for fourth in goals overall. Before moving to North America in 2022, Gunler played in Sweden’s Hockey League from 2018-22. He has represented Sweden internationally at various tournaments and was selected by the Hurricanes as their second-round pick in 2020.
Gavin Bayreuther spent last season playing for Lausanne HC in Switzerland’s National League where he scored five goals and made 18 assists over regular-season games. His playoff performance contributed eight points as his team reached but did not win the championship series. Previously associated with Dallas and Columbus teams within NHL frameworks and having significant experience across AHL games too; Bayreuther also holds an impressive collegiate record from St Lawrence University including receiving All-American honors twice.
