Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced the signing of goaltender Amir Miftakhov to a one-year, two-way contract. The agreement will see Miftakhov earn $775,000 at the NHL level or $100,000 at the AHL level, with a guaranteed minimum of $240,000.
“Amir has put together a number of solid seasons in the KHL and is ready to return to professional hockey in North America,” said Tulsky. “It’s important to have goaltending depth, and we look forward to having him in our organization.”
Miftakhov, aged 25, recorded a 13-11-3 record with a 2.18 goals-against average (GAA), .927 save percentage (SV%), and four shutouts in 30 games for AK Bars Kazan in the KHL. He also participated in two playoff games with a 0-1-0 record and a 3.38 GAA. Over his career from 2019 to 2025 with AK Bars Kazan, he achieved a 38-29-4 record, 2.19 GAA, .922 SV%, and 11 shutouts across 82 KHL games.
The Kazan native previously spent the 2021-22 season in North America with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL. During that time, he posted a combined record across both leagues.
Miftakhov has represented Russia internationally at various levels. He won silver at the 2020 IIHF U20 World Championship, bronze at the 2019 U20 World Championship, and was named a top-three player on his team during the 2018 U18 World Championship.
