Two days after the conclusion of their season at Lenovo Center, Carolina Hurricanes players met with the media to discuss the 2024-25 season and look ahead to opportunities for improvement. The team experienced a significant playoff run, its most successful since 2006, despite introducing many new players in September.

Jaccob Slavin and Jordan Martinook were among the first to speak. Slavin noted that turnovers early in the Eastern Conference final contributed to their downfall, stating, “I wish we gave ourselves a chance from the beginning.” Martinook expressed pride in how well the team gelled together despite last year’s losses.

Jalen Chatfield and Jordan Staal also addressed injuries and future prospects. Chatfield missed six games due to a hip issue but does not require surgery. Staal reflected on his career as he approaches 37, emphasizing continued opportunities for improvement.

Frederik Andersen aims to remain healthy next season after proving his capabilities this year. Eric Robinson hopes to stay with the team following a career-high season in offensive production.

Dmitry Orlov may explore free agency but praised teammate Alexander Nikishin’s potential. Scott Morrow learned valuable lessons during his first professional season and plans offseason improvements.

Sebastian Aho discussed excitement for young talents like Logan Stankoven and emphasized available cap space for further strengthening. Stankoven appreciated his time with the Hurricanes after being traded mid-season.

Alexander Nikishin shared ambitions of becoming a full-time NHL defenseman through Andrei Svechnikov’s translation. Svechnikov aims to return stronger next season following a solid postseason performance.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi seeks further development while Sean Walker recovers from a shoulder injury sustained earlier this year. Brent Burns is open about staying in Raleigh as he enters free agency after undergoing surgery last year.

Seth Jarvis will delay shoulder surgery until next summer due to its impact on upcoming seasons, including the 2026 Winter Olympics. Despite injuries, Jarvis led the team with 33 goals this past season.

The Hurricanes announced that Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour and General Manager Eric Tulsky will hold an end-of-season media availability on June 3 at 10 a.m., which will be covered on Hurricanes.com.
