Brandon Bussi is set to start in goal for the Carolina Hurricanes as they face the Winnipeg Jets at Lenovo Center on Friday. Bussi, who is 27 years old, has won his last three games and recently made 25 saves on 28 shots to help secure a win against Winnipeg one week ago. If he secures another victory tonight, he would become the first goaltender in franchise history to achieve six wins in his first seven appearances with the team.

The Hurricanes will continue without their captain Jordan Staal, who is missing his third consecutive game due to illness. Justin Robidas will fill in for Staal, making his fourth career appearance after debuting this season on Wednesday.

The projected lineup for tonight’s game includes forwards Svechnikov, Aho, Jarvis, Ehlers, Stankoven, Blake, Carrier, Jankowski, Martinook, Hall, Robidas, and Robinson. The defense pairings are Gostisbehere with Chatfield; Miller with Walker; and Nikishin with Nystrom. Mike Reilly is listed as a scratch.

On the injury list are Jordan Staal (illness), Pyotr Kochetkov (lower-body injury), Jesperi Kotkaniemi (ankle injury), Charles Alexis Legault (hand injury), and Jaccob Slavin (lower-body injury).

The power play units feature Aho, Ehlers, Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere on the first unit. The second unit consists of Blake, Hall, and Stankoven alongside Miller and Walker.

The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
