Jaccob Slavin of the Carolina Hurricanes, along with his family and the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation, took part in a community event to support local students as they return to school. At the Back2School Bash held last weekend, Slavin handed out thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need. The event also featured rides, games, and food trucks.
In July, the Hurricanes Foundation collected over 6,000 school supplies from fans during their annual drive. Supplies have been distributed to organizations such as Raleigh Dream Center and WakeEd Partnership: Tools4Schools. These efforts help provide free classroom supplies for nearly 11,000 teachers in the Wake County Public School System.
Slavin has a history of community involvement throughout his ten NHL seasons. In 2023, he partnered with International Justice Mission (IJM), an organization that works globally to protect people living in poverty from violence and modern slavery. Together they launched a nonprofit aimed at ending child online exploitation and trafficking in the Philippines. The Slavins raised more than $1 million for this campaign by matching up to $500,000 in donations.
