The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday. The game will take place in Raleigh, with a puck drop scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on TNT, truTV, Max; SN, TVAS or listen via 99.9 The Fan and the Hurricanes App.
The Hurricanes have shown resilience in their playoff journey so far. They advanced past the New Jersey Devils with a double-overtime win and overcame the Washington Capitals thanks to a decisive goal by Andrei Svechnikov in Game 5.
In their current series against Florida, Carolina suffered losses in three of the first four games but managed to secure a victory in Game 4 with Frederik Andersen’s perfect performance, stopping all 20 shots from Florida.
Rookie Logan Stankoven has been notable this postseason, scoring his fifth goal and joining Erik Cole and Warren Foegele as rookies with five or more goals during a playoff run for the Canes/Whalers franchise. Defenseman Alexander Nikishin also made an impact by recording his first NHL point during an elimination game.
On Florida’s side, Sam Bennett acknowledged that their approach was not typical in Game 4, suggesting it was “an easy fix.” Head Coach Paul Maurice highlighted areas for improvement like their power play performance. Injuries have affected key players such as Sam Reinhart, A.J. Greer, and Niko Mikkola who missed Game 4 but participated in practice before traveling to Raleigh.
Carolina faces injury concerns too with defensemen Sean Walker and Jalen Chatfield possibly missing out due to undisclosed injuries. Jesper Fast is confirmed out for the season since August.
If Carolina wins on Wednesday, they will travel back to Florida for Game 6 on Friday. If they lose, exit interviews will follow shortly after.
