The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation has announced the opening of its grant application cycle for the 2025-26 period. Applications will be accepted from April 2 through April 30, 2025. Executive Director Amy Daniels emphasized the Foundation’s focus on supporting organizations that cater to the health and educational needs of children in underserved areas. Additionally, the Foundation seeks programs that aim to broaden the accessibility of youth hockey in North Carolina.
“We are thrilled to reopen our grant cycle and continue our commitment to enhancing the lives of children in our state,” said Daniels. “By investing in initiatives that support health, education, and the growth of youth hockey, we hope to empower the next generation of leaders, athletes, and changemakers.”
Two types of grants are available in this cycle. The Game Changer Grants offer amounts of $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000 and target organizations seeking to make a significant programmatic impact. The Future Canes Grants focus on enhancing youth hockey programs throughout North Carolina and will provide funds based on demonstrated need.
Last year’s beneficiaries of the Game Changer Grants included organizations such as the Hope Center at Pullen and Spare Some for Autism, who received $5,000 each. Others, such as the Durham Nativity School and the NC Down Syndrome Alliance, received $10,000, while the Assistance League of the Triangle and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle were among those awarded $15,000.
Future Canes Grants were distributed to several youth hockey associations, including the Greensboro Youth Hockey Association and the Triad Hockey Alliance.
Beyond grants, the Foundation raised over $1 million in the 2024-25 season to aid hurricane relief efforts in Western North Carolina. This effort was part of a campaign to assist communities affected by Hurricane Helene while maintaining a focus on nonprofits serving youth statewide. The dual approach ensures continued funding for crucial initiatives in children’s health, education, and youth hockey, alongside disaster recovery assistance.
