Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that forward Logan Stankoven has agreed to an eight-year contract extension with the team. The deal is valued at $48 million and will commence with the 2026-27 season.

Tulsky expressed enthusiasm about retaining Stankoven, stating, “From the moment he arrived in Raleigh, it was clear to us that Logan was a Hurricane. We’re thrilled that he agrees and is committed to being a big part of this organization long term.”

Stankoven, who is 22 years old, had an impressive season in 2024-25. He registered 38 points across 78 regular-season games played with both Carolina and Dallas. Notably, he tied for second among NHL rookie skaters in game-winning goals with five. After joining Carolina on March 7, Stankoven contributed nine points over 19 regular-season games and added eight points during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Over his career so far in the NHL, Stankoven has accumulated a total of 52 points from 20 goals and 32 assists in 102 games for Carolina and Dallas. Additionally, he has scored 16 points in Stanley Cup playoff appearances.

Originally selected as a second-round pick by Dallas in the 2021 NHL Draft, Stankoven was traded to the Hurricanes along with several draft picks in exchange for Mikko Rantanen.

Before his professional career began, Stankoven excelled with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), amassing significant scoring statistics and earning Player of the Year honors. Internationally, he has represented Canada multiple times, including winning gold at the IIHF World U18 Championship.

The announcement of his contract extension underscores his value to the Hurricanes as they look forward to future seasons with him as a key player.
