Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced that goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev has been assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Khazheyev, aged 20, recorded a 5-13-0 record with a .876 save percentage and a 3.49 goals-against average in 20 games with the Wolves during the 2024-25 season. He also played one game with the Bloomington Bison of the ECHL on October 20. In the previous season, he made 28 appearances for Belye Medvedi Chelyabinsk in Russia’s MHL, achieving a 16-5-2 record, a 2.19 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage, and two shutouts.
Standing at 6’6” and weighing 201 pounds, Khazheyev also debuted in Russia’s VHL with Chelmet Chelyabinsk during the same period, posting a 1-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage. Over parts of three seasons (2021-24) with Belye Medvedi, he compiled a 27-16-10 record, a 2.34 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage, and four shutouts in MHL games. His postseason record includes seven wins out of ten games played with a goals-against average of 2.44 and a .921 save percentage.
The native of Chelyabinsk, Russia was selected by Carolina in the fifth round as the 158th overall pick during the NHL Draft in 2023.
