Darren Yorke, Associate General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes and General Manager of the Chicago Wolves, announced that Cam Abbott has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves. Assistant Coach Spiros Anastas will take over as interim head coach.
Anastas, 40, joined the Wolves’ coaching staff on August 28, 2024. He previously served as a head coach in international competitions for Greece and China and worked as a scout for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL. His coaching experience includes roles with the ECHL’s Brampton Beast and South Carolina Stingrays, Canadian Interuniversity Sport at the University of Lethbridge, and international assignments with Serbia, Estonia, and South Korea. Anastas was also part of a Calder Cup-winning team as an assistant coach with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013.
The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina according to their official website.
