Representative Brian Echevarria, a Republican member of the North Carolina State House representing the 82nd district since 2025, recently used his social media platform to express concerns about government accountability and property tax policies in North Carolina.

On March 26, 2026, Echevarria questioned the current state of democratic governance in a post: “Is a government of the people still okay or nah? Tough times. #northcarolina #ncpol”.

Later that day, he addressed property tax issues in another statement: “While property taxes predate Marxism, the way some governments endlessly raise their claim on YOUR property comes from the same evil instinct: that the government comes first. That is backwards! North Carolina needs property tax reform that protect us from vicious tax hikes.”

Continuing his focus on taxation policy, Echevarria wrote: “Someone who buys a home, pays his mortgage, and obeys the law should not spend every year worrying about vicious property tax increases. #ncpol #northcarolina”, also posted on March 26.

Echevarria was elected to represent North Carolina’s 82nd House district in 2025 after succeeding Kristin Baker. As a state legislator, he has focused attention on fiscal policy and constituent concerns related to taxation.
