Representative Brian Echevarria, a Republican elected in 2025 to the North Carolina State House for the 82nd district, has recently addressed issues concerning urban crime and property taxes through a series of posts on social media.
On August 15, 2025, Echevarria commented on the state of Washington, D.C., drawing comparisons with other major U.S. cities. He wrote, “Washington, D.C., is a leftist utopia of crime, drugs, trafficking, cashless bail, and radical lunacy on the national stage. It’s a geo-sample of democrat leadership and its effect. See Baltimore, Atlanta, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. DC is on Brand for DNC. NC deserves better #ncpol”.
Later that same day at 20:17 UTC, Echevarria shared an op-ed regarding property taxes in North Carolina and described it as an urgent issue facing the state: “Here is a link to an op-ed about our property taxes. An unnecessary crisis facing our state. Enjoy! #ncpol https://t.co/eVq46wK9wW”.
On August 17, he further addressed concerns about tax policy by stating: “Revaluation-based property tax increases are essentially a tax on unrealized gains — hard stop. #ncpol”.
Echevarria began serving in the North Carolina State House after being elected in 2025 to represent District 82; he succeeded Kristin Baker as representative.
