Representative Brian Echevarria, a Republican serving North Carolina’s 82nd House district since 2025, has recently addressed issues related to property taxes and government representation on his social media account.

On March 23, 2026, Echevarria posted about the ongoing debate regarding the role of tax committees. He questioned whether representatives should prioritize local governments or their constituents, stating: “Government vs. people representation: A debate on tax committees. Should representatives serve local governments or the 90,000 constituents? Finding reform requires bridging this divide. #ncpol#northcarolina https://t.co/7CyBa1SZiN”.

Later that day, he commented on the impact of rising property taxes on rent prices and criticized large firms’ influence in the housing market. According to his post from March 23, 2026: “When property taxes rise, so does rent. Big firms driving up property values and using Section 8 distort the rental market. Your rent isn’t going down when government programs set a higher floor. #ncpol #northcarolina https://t.co/DRcuKG7Z1f”.

On March 26, 2026, Echevarria further expressed concerns over increasing property taxes and criticized what he described as misleading narratives from certain political groups. He wrote: “What about us? For years we have listened to a few marxist and lots of liberals gaslighting us about vicious property tax hikes. Now they do NOT want us to be protected. Property taxes have gone through the roof. It’s not sustainable, and IT’S NOT RIGHT.

Spoiler alert, they https://t.co/NSGyTvsveV”
.

Echevarria was elected in 2025 to represent North Carolina’s 82nd House district after succeeding Kristin Baker.
