Governor Roy Cooper has announced that Crystal Window & Door Systems, a leading manufacturer of replacement and new construction windows, will be establishing a manufacturing center in Johnston County, creating 501 jobs with an investment of $83.6 million in Selma.

"More great manufacturing jobs are coming to Johnston County and North Carolina, the number one state for business in the country,” Governor Cooper stated, emphasizing the state's skilled workforce and favorable business climate as key factors in attracting businesses.

The Chairman and Founder of Crystal Window & Door Systems, Thomas Chen, expressed his excitement about the company's expansion to North Carolina, saying, "Crystal Windows started in 1990 from my dream of building my own business... Our expansion to North Carolina is a terrific next phase of that growth."

North Carolina Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders highlighted the state's commitment to economic development, stating, “North Carolina’s strategic plan for economic development puts our people first, and putting people first is a win-win for everyone.”

The North Carolina Department of Commerce played a significant role in supporting Crystal Window & Door Systems during its decision-making process, leading to the company's selection of Johnston County for its new manufacturing operation.

The project will be facilitated by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), which is estimated to grow the state’s economy by $1.09 billion over a 12-year term. The JDIG agreement authorizes potential reimbursement to the company of up to $4,136,250 based on performance verification of job creation and investment targets.

N.C. Senator Benton Sawrey expressed his enthusiasm for the new manufacturing jobs coming to the region, stating, “North Carolina is the number one manufacturing state in the Southeast, and it’s great to see even more manufacturing jobs come to our region.”

N.C. Representative Larry Strickland emphasized the importance of collaboration at various levels to support companies like Crystal Window & Door Systems as they establish themselves in the area.

Various organizations and entities, including the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, and Duke Energy, among others, partnered with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina to facilitate this project in Johnston County.
